February 27th, 2010 - The Sacrifice of Praise
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. – Hebrews 13:15
No doubt there are multiple meanings to this verse. One of those meanings is that we offer the sacrifice of praise by praising the Lord when we don’t feel like it.
During this recent time of tragedy in my family, there have been many times when the last thing I have felt like doing was praising the Lord. However, it is in these times that we determine that we will sacrifice our feelings and praise God, no matter what is going on.
As we offer the sacrifice of praise, we find ourselves seeing things more from God’s perspective than from our own. We also find that our trust in God increases, and we find ourselves drawn deeper into His presence.
So, whatever you’re going through right now, determine to praise God. He is still God; He has not changed, nor will He change, and He loves you, no matter what you’ve done or how you feel.
